Quick Sketch for Animation

I went with Christine to her "Quick Sketch for Animation" class today since I didn't have school. We basically drew with a model for four hours, never having her stay in a pose for more than two minutes. The first shows some 30 second sketches, but the rest are all two minutes. It was a lot of fun. Drawing for that long I got to experiment with a couple new things as well. I filled about 14 pages. Here are just a few of them.

Zombie poses. Awesome.

For these last two pages we still drew the model, but we had to draw her as a meercat. The faces always turned out weird, but I like the bodies.

Pumpkin carving...

Never carved a pumpkin in layers like this before. Worked out pretty cool.

Amateur Wine Maker...

Concrete Countertops...

More sketches from my time at home. I want to try to make my own concrete countertops one day. Sketched a couple ideas and other random stuff.

White Collar...

I went to my parents this weekend to hang out with the family. I watched "White Collar" with my dad and did a random sketch.

Alterra Trip...

Exploring a couple ideas for my mom's picture.

Water colored a couple old drawings.

Observations of people at Alterra. I've been reading Chris Ware's sketchbooks lately and have been modeling mine after him a little bit.

Ben and the gorilla...

Here are couple rough sketches of a project I'll be doing for my mom. She wanted me to draw her something for her birthday...which was months ago. Sorry Ma.

I've also been checking out Chris Ware's sketchbooks. His stuff is awesome and I copied one of his characters in the top left.

Double Sink...almost...

This is what it looked like in the beginning.

Is this artwork? It's debatable, but I'm counting it. It took me about eight hours to do this today and ended up being pretty close to my drawings. Hope it all works when I hook it up to the sinks!

Seeing the picture compared to my drawing I can see how my perspective on the out coming pipes is way off.

A maze of pipes...

I have no idea what I've gotten myself into and that's probably why I'm looking forward to this so much.

Today I had a friend come over who's a plumber and he gave me some suggestions on how to turn my single faucet into a double faucet for our bathroom remodel. It looks neat and simple in this 2D drawing, but it'll be interesting doing it for real, in 3D with a load of 2x4's in the way. I'm excited though. I think I can handle this one... my wife's not so convinced though.

Running...

Sometimes people look really weird when they run. This is just some random photo I found on the web.

Date Night at Barnes and Noble...

I will make a treehouse one day. It's going to be awesome!
Added on another late night drawing. I'm so tired during the week, but when I finally can do whatever I want to do in the evening I don't want to go to bed. I'll pay for this tomorrow.

Post 284...

The 60 page visual journal is finished. It was the biggest and most time consuming project I have ever done. Of all the projects I've ever done this one will stand up to time the best. I've done many projects that after a year or two I'm just done with. I don't really have any reason or desire to keep it. This journal is different. It's a record of my life that I can look back at in 15-20 years and remember what I did in my life.

I've been blogging and posting for nine months now. I've got so many ideas for what I could do next. I'm ready for a new challenge. I think I want to work on longer, more developed projects. Most of the posts so far I've completed in one day, two at the most. I want to do some large projects that require some planning and then many days to actually execute. What do I do though? What could keep me interested for several days?

It's done...

Finally. The book... is done. I'll talk more about it tomorrow when I'm not exhausted.
