Bathroom Remodel...

The evolution of the bathroom shower. The bane of my existence is almost done. Almost. A few tiles left to put on the wall. Some grout. That's it. Then just the rest of the painting of the bathroom. Could it really almost be done?
Not to bad for a guy who has no idea what he's doing.

Drink and Draw...

Another Drink and Draw event on Friday night at our best location yet. The theme was Men in Black in honor of Johnny Cash's birthday. It was a lot of fun, but now I've got the worst cold I've had in a long time.

Well, Ma. I finally finished that picture for you. Hope you like it! I took it from a sketch I did a long time ago. Love ya!

Back on the wagon...

I'll admit it. I've fallen off the wagon. I haven't been drawing regularly and I don't like it. My wife and I discussed this over our Valentine's Day dinner tonight and she's going to give me a theme each week for the next four weeks. I have to draw something the fits into that theme. It's got to be a nice finished piece. We'll see how it goes.

This first week though, I picked the theme. It's "me as a gorilla." My mom asked me to do one for her long ago and I've put it off. That will be done a week from today.

Here are scans of the few things I did this week. The first is a watercolor of last week's visual journal.
This is one of the flowers I did for my wife for a Valentine's gift. Over the next few weeks she'll get a dozen of these. All different flowers with little notes on the back. Aww...
I'll continue the drug and alcohol metaphors and declare to the world that I have been clean and sober of Farmville for three days now. Don't start it. It's really hard to stop.

A day late...

Sorry mom! Thanks for keeping me honest. Here's what I got from last week...

A drew a pretty leaf!I've actually always wanted to try drawing a leaf, but haven't really gotten around to it. My father in law needed a leaf for a wine label. It was a "Red Wine Blend" that he flavored with oak chips. So, I drew an oak leaf. Here are the finished labels along with my wife's awesome "Bandit Owl" label for the Black Raspberry wine we made in our basement.
I also did some people watching/sketching while at a spelling bee for two of my students. "Arcane" and "apathy" are the words that finally got them out. I don't think I could have spelled those when I was in the fifth grade.
The wife and I went to Barnes and Noble on Friday night. It was memorable to say the least.
We've also been working hard on the bathroom remodel. My wife is the grouter. The shower floor is all tiled and now I can attack the curb. This will be all done one day.
Emma tried to help out, but got distracted by the water in the bucket. Something strange about that cat and water.

Art Museum...

The wife and I took a trip to the Milwaukee Art Museum on Thursday to check out the "Street Seen" exhibit. It was refreshing and got me energized again. I haven't been drawing as much lately. Without the pressure of having to post everyday I'm getting lazy. I'll have to switch it up for February somehow. Don't know quite how yet. I'll have to sleep on it.

No bad luck...

It was a spectacular fall. If it had been taped I probably would have won $10,000 on Funniest Home Videos. A lot of thoughts can go through your head in a split second. All of a sudden I knew I was going down, then I thought I had saved myself, and then I knew there was nothing I could do. Somehow I managed not to break the mirror part, but completely busted the "wood" frame, which was really some kind of cheap pressed cardboard. I'm not sure there's any fixing it.



On a side note, my wife is awesome. So awesome that three of her photographs were picked to be shown at the Kohler Art Center, Eight Counties exhibit. Out of 500 artists and 1,550 submissions, she got chosen. How cool is that? I'm so proud of her. She is my inspiration for my art and this whole blogging thing.
