My Day Off

It's MLK Day, so no school for me. Woot! Woot! Spent the day drawing and painting.

Here's the final flower for my wife. I managed to get all dozen finished by Valentine's Day, but it was close.

I started this a few days ago, but just finished today. It counts as my second Visual Journal for last week. Two more to go for this week.

Make that one more. Here's my usual puppet sketch I do when I'm home and my wife is stuck at work. Click the puppet label at the end to see how much better they have gotten over the last couple years.

What will tomorrow bring?

Here are two more flowers I gave my wife. I thought the daisy stunk, so I didn't write anything on the back or count it as one of her twelve. I'll do one more and that will be her dozen.

Speaking of my wife, here she is with her favorite kitty, Emma.

Tomorrow will be interesting. Not only do I have jury duty , but my wife is bringing three, one month old foster kittens in our house. I wonder how Emma and Chin will react. It will be great visual journal material.

Flowers

This is a flower I did a few days ago and gave to my wife today.

I worked on her last two flowers today and will post those once I've given them to her.

Collage...

I don't really ever feel the need to do crazy collages of mismatched ideas and images, but I'll try anything once. It was actually kind of fun. I drew and inked it a while back, just trying to get ideas and emotions out, but never posted. I started water coloring it this evening. There is more to come.

Some more flowers I hid around the house for my wife to find. I'll spare you the mushy notes I wrote on the backside.

Head Games...

Foreigner is one of my wife's favorite bands. She told me she has the double disk and I can borrow it whenever I want...

I also did a few more flowers for my wife. They're part of a dozen I started a long time ago and have been neglecting.

For the ladies...

Well, Ma. I finally finished that picture for you. Hope you like it! I took it from a sketch I did a long time ago. Love ya!
Here is the second, of a dozen flowers, my wife will be getting. Love ya!

Back on the wagon...

I'll admit it. I've fallen off the wagon. I haven't been drawing regularly and I don't like it. My wife and I discussed this over our Valentine's Day dinner tonight and she's going to give me a theme each week for the next four weeks. I have to draw something the fits into that theme. It's got to be a nice finished piece. We'll see how it goes.

This first week though, I picked the theme. It's "me as a gorilla." My mom asked me to do one for her long ago and I've put it off. That will be done a week from today.

Here are scans of the few things I did this week. The first is a watercolor of last week's visual journal.
This is one of the flowers I did for my wife for a Valentine's gift. Over the next few weeks she'll get a dozen of these. All different flowers with little notes on the back. Aww...
I'll continue the drug and alcohol metaphors and declare to the world that I have been clean and sober of Farmville for three days now. Don't start it. It's really hard to stop.

Amaryllis...

My wife and I were visiting my parents over winter break. I drew my dad's beautiful amaryllis that he grows every year.
