Faux-Ma...

Emma plays mom to our foster kittens. This usually just includes her standing over them and batting at them. However, today she licked Junior from head to toe. Rather, rear end to head. Junior was a little shocked at first and not digging it. As I'm sure anyone would be. After Emma started getting towards Junior's head she started feeling more comfortable and actually leaned into Emma. What started off as a very weird moment for all turned out to be very tender.

Christine...

My beautiful wife, Christine. Today she asks me, "Do you think my bottom lip is too big?" No, no. Definitely not.

Late night drawing...

Had to use my wife's iphone again since we're out of town. Just a quick drawing today of one of my students getting hit in the head by some eraser bits. Two weeks left.

Yard work...

Christine and I did a ton of yard work this past weekend. The most embarrassing thing was trying to open up the yard waste bags. I don't know how other people do it, but I found just sticking my entire head in the bag and pushing the bottom open with my hand worked the best.

Sidenote: I know it's probably not significant to other people, but I've been drawing off and on for years and this is maybe only the fifth background I've ever drawn. I almost didn't do it for this picture, but I'm glad I did. I'm stepping out of my comfortability zone by baby steps a little each day.

Date Night...

When my wife and I draw we usually play a few drawing games. Tonight we had four random words: rattlesnake, seaweed, coffee, cotton. We had to somehow incorporate those into a drawing.

The other drawing is of some random guy sitting next to us at Barnes and Noble who kept hacking up a lung.

Earwigs.
Nasty looking things.

What a day...

A day of giggles. Not always at the appropriate time, but still entertaining.

Broken phone...

A wonderful weekend of yard work, except that I kept my phone in my pocket and broke the screen. I can't even read the time anymore. Bummer.

Doodles...

Just some doodles for today.

What about bananas...

An actual conversation I had with a student today.
Needless to say he wasn't able to turn his behavior around.

Emma inked. I'll watercolor her shirt green next.

Kitty Torture...

The penciled beginnings of an Emma drawing.

My wife enjoys torturing our cat and our foster cats by dressing them up in a little green shirt. It's done out of kindness since it will help them become "child proof" and adjust well to whomever they end up being adopted by. I never complain. It's the funniest thing you've ever seen.

Emma...

This is Emma drawn in the style of Nick Bruel in his Bad Kitty books.

Warning: It's a sappy one...

This drawing may not seem to match what I wrote about, but it does. I wore my gorilla suit at the wedding. No, not the whole time. Just to one song, Phil Collins, "Groovy Kind of Love." Somehow it all made sense that night.

It's late...

Sci-fi films are the best...

And that crappy sci-fi movie would be Babylon A.D., starring Vin Diesel. It was crap and I enjoyed it.

Raccoon...

Yes, we're catching feral cats, having them spayed or neutered, and keeping them in our backyard. Weird, yes. So, far we've caught one feral cat and no raccoons. Hallelujah.

Before catching feral cats I spent the evening with my wife at a coffee shop drawing. We would name animals and then draw them as stuffed animals. Here drawings are below.

Turkey, turkey, turkey...

The next stage in the Turkey thank you card. Just have to add some lettering and color.
Turkey! Turkey! Turkey!

Profile...

Still working on developing the character of Ben. Weird, but I don't think I've ever drawn myself in profile.

Watercolor...

A couple old drawings I went back and watercolored. Still a lot of learning to do with this whole watercoloring thing.

Splotch Monsters...

Still trying to get used to watercolor. This has been a fun way to experiment.

Character Development...

I'm going to try and develop a few characters I can use to tell some stories. This is Ben (how modest). It's early stages. Still feel I need to work out the top of the hair and what I want the eyes to look like.

Just a quick sketch of a kid today.

Deep Sea Diver

Just realized my scanner isn't big enough to scan my whole drawing. You'll have to use your imagination and piece it together.

Nuthead...

A kid called me a "nuthead" today. What is that exactly?

So tired. I'll be turkey hunting in 4 hours.
