365 Posts...

Water colored some stuff from yesterday and also some studies (a.k.a., me trying to copy) of David Smalls' art from "The Money Tree". David Small is my new idol.

I'll post some reflections about 2009 tomorrow. There are some party preparations, as well as partying, that need to take place before that can happen. Happy New Year!!!

Just a quick post today. Relaxed and watched some T.V. tonight. Wonderful.

Avatar, Part III...

The finish product. I like this, taking a couple days thing, to actually make something nice.

I can't believe it? Two more days, and I will have posted a drawing, for better or worse, everyday for a year.

Avatar, Part II...

Still working...color next.

Avatar...

Water colored yesterday's Visual Journal.

I saw the movie, Avatar, today. It is AWESOME. All the hype is true. Seeing it in 3D didn't hurt either.

Started the drawing above. Going to try some new things as I finish it up and push my comfort levels a little. Even just not finishing it makes me feel a little uncomfortable. As I near the one year mark of my blog, I'm going to try and take more time doing my drawings. Concentrate more on quality versus quantity. Hopefully this will produce some more growth. We'll see what happens.

Farmville...

Farmville. What a horribly addicting, completely useless, game.

Heaven...

I've learned many things from my wife, but one of the more important things is this...food is an art.

It's also one of those arts I'm not very talented at. I gave it a whirl tonight and made some "Chocolate Covered Cake Balls." Mmmm. I hate cooking, but it's always easier with a little wine.

Below you can see the wine we drank as we waited for the white chocolate to melt in the double boiler.

This is the finished product. On the outside you can see the semi-sweet chocolate covered in white chocolate. Nothing fancy, but it's the inside where the magic happens. On the inside there is crumbled cake mixed with frosting to make it thicker. You bite into these things that have a hard outside layer and then get the taste and texture of this soft, moist, sweet inside. Below is the finished product.

School Sketchbook...

Haven't drawn in my school sketchbook in a while. This year's group has been so much better than last year's. Even two days before winter break, these kids aren't freaking out yet. Amazing.

Skindred...

An image from yesterday as well as one from today. I'm trying to get myself to use more black. Still working on it. Check out Skindred's latest song "Stand for Something" to find my inspiration for the drawing.

Farmville...

Evening conversation. You know. Farmville, from Facebook or something? You can raise cows and chickens and stuff. Virtually.

I shouldn't comment though. I was addicted to that Vampire/Werewolf/Slayer app. on Facebook forever.

Ice Skating and Dancing...

Christine and I went to Subway for dinner and actually drew there. New experience. I wasn't feeling too motivated today, so she penciled and then I inked over.

The above is all Christine's. She says I'm better than her at drawing, but I tend to disagree.

Concrete...

Worked in the bathroom today on the shower curb. Laid down some lathe.

Then coated the sides with concrete.

Not much art involved, but had some extra concrete and made a face.

Simplify...

Sketching while watching TUF reality show. My wife, who yes, was actually watching with me, drew the jelly bean man. Friday's are great.

More likenesses...kinda...

Another try at a UFC likeness. Drawing people and making them look like them is not easy. Any guesses?

UFC Fighter...

Felt like trying to draw a likeness of somebody. Not sure it worked. Any guesses?

The Deer Slayer...

Viewer Discretion Advised!!!
The following details my deer hunting experience today. Don't read on if Bambi is your favorite movie, you're vegetarian, a member of PETA, or my wife.

Saturday...

This will need some water color to get the point across. It'll have droplets of water falling from the silhouetted trees. (Ohhh. Ahhhh.)
