Kohler-Andrae State Park...

Just got back from camping for a few days. Needed to get out of town and relax. This tells the tale of our first day there. There are some more coming involving raccoons and smelly wedding proposals.

I'm testing out different visual journal styles and using them towards an independent study class for my masters. I figure the best way to dissect and learn from them is actually trying them out. This is done in the style of Jim Mahfood.

Trying to find my way again...

Good old Ma. Drew this one pretty fast. I might go in later and rework it some more. It was quick and fun, but still feels really rough.

Artistically frustrated as usual. It helps me to look at other blogs and get some ideas and inspiration. This came from Robin Cain over at Mindzai Comics. Thanks for getting me going today.

Figure Drawing...

Wow. It has been a long time since I have done figure drawing. Not since college, which was near 10 years ago.

We started off with some 1 min. studies and worked our way up to 5 min, 10 min, and finally two 20 min. poses. It was an incredible amount of fun. Thanks, Tim, for telling me about it, and thanks, BYO Studio, for hosting.

Bib #352

A possible idea for a screen print on a t-shirt. This printmaking class, I'm taking with my wife, is forcing me to get better with photoshop. Can't say I did this all on my own because my wife has had to help me with a few things, but most of it was me.

Two years!!!

My wife and I just had our two year wedding anniversary! We went up to Peninsula State Park for some camping on Thursday and just got back today (Sunday). I only had a little time to draw while sitting at the beach.

S'mores were of course involved and the great debate of how to cook your marshmallow took place for the hundredth time.

While missing our cats we made a new friend, "Steve." I'm sure his diet consists of just campers' food because he was a friendly chipmunk. He enjoyed strawberries, cheese, and popcorn, but Cheetos were his favorite.

Let's save doing something productive for another day.

Gorilla vs. T-Rex...

Here are a couple quick sketches and random doodles as I decided what I wanted to do for my lithography print.

This is the final image. My wife thinks I should open the T-Rex's mouth a little bit more and get rid of the floppy tongue hanging out. I tend to agree. What do you think?

Busted...

I'm not very good at diets. Pizza is my weakness.
