A new age...

It's time to start pushing myself a little more. I've gotten better over the last 6 1/2 months. I've had over 200 posts. It's time to step it up.
Color. Drawing from life. A record of my life. These are the things that I want in my illustrations. To try and work towards that I will be doing a visual journal entry everyday for the next 60 days.
Admittedly, that's a tall order. I hope I can stick to it. Here's my first attempt.

Comic Book Class...

Posts for the next week or two are going to be all about this cat comic book I'll be doing for my final project for my Comic Book Class. It's not a traditional comic book like Superman or anything, but it will tell a story in pictures. The story of the adoption of our cat "Chins."

Below is a mock up of what the book might look like. I'm not planning on using all these pages, but these are possibilities. It'll probably be whittled down to about 10 pages.

Deer Camp Wine...

Hopefully the last post ever about Deer Camp Wine labels. Here's what they might look like on the bottles and I did three more possible ones down below. Done. I'm really done with these now.

Deer Camp Wine...

Hopefully the last of the Deer Camp Wine labels. Three main images and a host of different possibilities for text placement should be enough. It was a fun project, but I'm glad it's done. Now onto the book!

Comic Book Class...

Today in my Comic class I started working on a mock up of the book I'll to for my final project. I've only just started, but here are what the first few pages might look like. I'll write more about the story as I get it fleshed out. Basically it is about the adoption of our cat Chin. Only had her a week!

This is the project from yesterday. We got 15 minutes to walk around where we wanted and draw three random objects. We then had to use those three things in a short story.

Here's the story. After I did the first page I realized it was taking me too long and did the last two real fast.

Comic Book Class...

No drawings today, just some ideas. I have to create a book for my comic class. Here's what I'm thinking.
I have some other cooler sketches I did today, but my teacher collected sketch books and I wasn't able to scan them. Sometime this weekend they'll be up.

Comic Book Class...

Today we had to create a short comic in class showing one of the six panel transitions that Scott McCloud outlined in his book "Understanding Comics." The first is scene-to-scene. I think. The second is action-to-action. We had about 2 hours to complete this. I was pretty happy with how it turned out. The backgrounds need some work though.

More talk and thoughts about "American Born Chinese" by Gene Luen Yang. Cool book. The question we had to think about tonight was, "What would Jin be doing post high school?"

Comic Book Class...

More assignments and work from my Comic Book Class.

My notes for Chapter 2 of "Comic Books 101."

For a warm-up we did something called the 4 C's. There were three parameters our characters had to meet. They must be able to fly. They must like or use fish in some way. Must have a triangle in the design somehow. This is what I came up with.

We drew 15 characters in 30 minutes to work on character development. Fun, but difficult towards the end.

Comic Book Class...

Just started a Comic Book class that kicks off my work on my Masters. You'll get to see my homework from each night. Tonight we had to read a chapter from "Comic Books 101" and create a time line of comics. Below is my not quite finished assignment. I'm tired though.

Some more Deer Camp Wine labels using the "Sleeping Hunter."
