All is well...

My wife was having some pain near her hip/stomach area and couldn't straighten up to walk normally or even move her right leg without excruciating pain. We know she has two kidney stones and we were worried they might be on the move and causing her pain. The wait at the first hospital was horrible. It was jam packed and not one person was called back while we were there for that hour. Meanwhile people are throwing up next to us, listening to horrible music on their phones, without headphones, so everyone one in the room has to hear it. It was awful. We said, "Screw it." and drove 20 minutes to a different hospital in the burbs and we were seen immediately. It was bizarre.

Turns out the pain was not from kidney stones, but more than likely a pulled/strained muscle that runs from her leg, through her abdomen and connects to the top of her pelvis. She's doing much better today and able to walk around kind of normal again.

Our realtor is an interesting woman. It's hard to tell from the drawing, but we were all in the same room at the time. She heard the home inspector say he was going to test it and she still screamed at the top of her lungs when it went off.

The main reason we didn't go garage saling is because it rained yesterday morning. We got a lot done though.

Summer's Great!

My wife is obsessed with Sesame Street and The Muppets. We rented the first disc of Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days, using Netflix. I guess I didn't realize there was a difference between Sesame Street and The Muppets. I just thought they were the same thing, so my wife educated me. My favorite skit was "Oklahoma." I can't wait to watch this stuff with our twins, but I know Amanda is looking forward to it even more than I am.

Baby Stuff...

I created both of these today since I had some extra time. However, neither one is actually from events that happened today.

Delay

I'm more than a little back logged. I'm meaning to watercolor these, but just haven't had the time. I'm going to go a head and post them black and white. I've got one more week of school and will hopefully be able to get to it then.

Science Fairs, Birthdays, and Visual Journals

Part of my wife's job is to take pictures for school events and I go along with her sometimes. On Saturday we went to a Science Fair and I doodled while she took pictures. The drawing below is a combination of a couple judges rolled into one.

We had planned beforehand that we would eat at BD's Mongolian Grill afterward because my wife had a birthday coupon for a free meal. I was starving and couldn't wait till we got there, so I drew about it.

I've been holding onto the drawing below for a while. I finished it at the end of January, but it was a gift for my dad. I finally saw him today, a month later, and was able to give it to him, so now I can post about it. Below is the finished piece and some of the old pictures I used for reference.

I'm the kid in the red jacket and that's my dad with the beard. In the background is a coup my dad built for homing pigeons that he raised. I don't have many memories of it, but I always enjoy hearing him talk about it.

Next, is my second visual journal for the week. When my parents visited today they gave us this thing called, "Zoom Groom" for brushing our cats.

My wife brushed Chin with it and the amount of cat hair that came off was insane! If you have a cat, buy a Zoom Groom.

Snow Day

No school today, so Chin and I watched out the window for a while as everyone tried to clear their driveways and sidewalks.

Time for a new banner. Not my favorite, but I think I'm going to try and change it once a month to work on my graphic design skills.

My Day Off

It's MLK Day, so no school for me. Woot! Woot! Spent the day drawing and painting.

Here's the final flower for my wife. I managed to get all dozen finished by Valentine's Day, but it was close.

I started this a few days ago, but just finished today. It counts as my second Visual Journal for last week. Two more to go for this week.

Chin!

My wife and I went to Barnes and Noble for our date night last night. I drew a couple quick sketches and water colored at home.

I also did one of my two visual journals for the week.

The licking sound of a cat in the dark of the night can be one of the most annoying things in the world for my wife.

It's been a while. I've got no excuses. Here are a couple things I did this past week. Since I have finished my last sketchbook I've finally started the one my wife made me for our one year anniversary.

I actually drew this a couple days ago, but just got around to posting it today.

More cats driving robots. Don't know why. Sorry for the junky scan, but the paper was too stiff to get it to sit completely on the glass. Tried playing around with the masking fluid to create a shiny metallic look, but it just ended looking not right. Live and learn.

The Balloon...

Every once in a while I draw something I like. It could be because it happened effortlessly. It might just be a way I want to draw all the time, but can't for some reason. Sometimes everything just falls into place and fits where you want it to. All these things happened today.

I like this one.

Chin: The Spider-Noticerer...

Our cat, Chin, can spot spiders on our ceiling. She will sit and meow loudly at it until one of us comes in the room. She's noticed so many it's gotten to the point that whenever we see her staring at the ceiling we look up paranoid there's a spider. About half the time there actually is.

She did this last night and noticed a particularly huge and disgusting one. I think she was especially loud because it was so enormous. It was promptly caught and squished outside. Thanks, Chin.
