Twins

My mom's was actually chocolate cake with a mocha icing.

Not quite sure how the Beetlejuice sand worm reminded my wife of her pillow, but it did.

Turkeys?

8-21-2011
While still living at my parents' house.

8-13-2011 and 8-16-2011
Moved into our new home finally!

Thirty turkeys followed by a guy on a four wheeler, all directly out your bedroom windows, isn't something you see everyday. It all happened within about two minutes of each other which made it especially strange.

Sum up...

8-7-2011

Viability Day means that it could be possible for the twins to survive if there was an emergency and Amanda had to have the babies now. Hopefully they'll stay in there as long as possible (early Nov.), but time will tell.

Babies!!!

Here are a couple old drawings from when my mom took my wife and I to North Carolina to visit my cousin. Just got too lazy to post them until now.

I've seen lots of drawings like this on Urban Sketchers and wanted to give a fish-eye-inside-plane drawing a try.

Other observations...

My parents came into town yesterday...

And today I made my wife laugh...

It was a good day, but I'm tired.

13 Weeks, 1 Day

Today's ultrasound went great. Still can't tell if they are boys or girls, but everything is progressing as it should. Now I have to wait another 4 weeks till the next ultrasound. Not sure if I can make it.

Here were some of my mom's other ideas for journal entries...

The OCB is the Old Country Buffet, if you didn't know. I try not to go there often, but I do love that place.

My wife is a HUGE Michael Jackson fan. If we have a boy she wants to name it Michael. Not kidding.

Sunday...

How long have I been doing this blog thing? Over a year and a half? How often have you seen me draw my parents? NONE! Because it SCARES me! Couldn't really tell you why, but decided it was high time to buckle down and just do it. Who am I kidding? I know why it scares me. Because I don't want to mess them up. Draw them wrong. My dad sent me a link to a podcast (see below) with an interview by Lynda Barry. She's written a couple books that I've only glanced at, What It Is, being one of them. Her main message in the interview is that we should all just create. Draw for fun without worrying about what it looks like. We are all capable of creating in our own way and that is what's important. It helped give me the courage I needed to tackle drawing my parents, people who I don't want to draw "wrong."

So, there you go mom and dad. Love you guys. Thanks for all your support!

Today's inspiration comes from a Lynda Barry podcast.

Trying to find my way again...

Good old Ma. Drew this one pretty fast. I might go in later and rework it some more. It was quick and fun, but still feels really rough.

Artistically frustrated as usual. It helps me to look at other blogs and get some ideas and inspiration. This came from Robin Cain over at Mindzai Comics. Thanks for getting me going today.
