House Hunting...

House Hunting is always an adventure. We saw about 5 houses yesterday. None that really fit what we need or are looking for.
This specific house had a tiny basement you took a ladder to get down into. I already knew I didn't like this house, but who can resist climbing down into a dark, scary basement like this? My curiosity got the best of me.
It's hard to describe, but it was about the size of a small room. Along one side was a cinder block wall about four feet high. Over the lip of this wall, there was crawl space about three feet high that went under the whole house, which was long and narrow. It was filled with gravel and everything smelled like wet cat pee.
The funniest thing, depending on how look at it, was that this door was in one of the kids' rooms. I don't think there are many kids that could sleep with this entryway in the middle of their floor. I wouldn't have been able to. It's worse than closet monsters!

Apples and Peanut Butter...
Visual Journal for today.
Trying to work on movement, clothing, and just drawing full figures. I find myself just drawing faces most of the time. Watched a few minutes of "Jumper" and would pause and draw sporadically. I'm trying to fill up more of my page when I work in my sketchbook. I came across this guy named Rob Laro and his sketches are insane.
Experiments in watercolor. Inked a quick drawing and just messed around with watercolor. It's very frustrating. I know so little on how to use color, but I'm going to keep at it.

Chin: The Spider-Noticerer...
Our cat, Chin, can spot spiders on our ceiling. She will sit and meow loudly at it until one of us comes in the room. She's noticed so many it's gotten to the point that whenever we see her staring at the ceiling we look up paranoid there's a spider. About half the time there actually is.She did this last night and noticed a particularly huge and disgusting one. I think she was especially loud because it was so enormous. It was promptly caught and squished outside. Thanks, Chin.

Not quite to our expectations...
Yeah, okay. Maybe our expectations were a little high. Let's just hope somebody buys the house for what we list it at so we can break out ahead a little more than just even.

Felt like I did a Spinadoo Comic today! Instead of "Things in my pocket", it's "Things under my deck."It was a crazy evening. One minute we're having a great conversation with my wife's cousin and the next her wedding band is gone! It was eight at night and getting dark. We had to wait until the next day to look under the deck. It was not an easy night's sleep.

Cornelius...
Nothing like taking a shot of NyQuil with Cornelius staring back at you. Got him from the Corn Palace when we went on our honeymoon/road trip.

Sump Pump Drama...
I don't know if the picture makes much sense, but I'm cutting through the PVC pipe in the middle panels. I was almost all the way through (thankfully not all the way or the water would have been on the ceiling) when it suddenly kicked in! It's hard to believe how strong those sump pumps are. There was water spraying three to four feet in all directions! Everything was soaked.I had plugged that thing in and out tons of times. I turned the little bobber all kinds of directions and the thing wouldn't kick in. Why it did when I was cutting I'll never understand. Either way I went ahead and installed the new one without much of an adventure after that.
I don't think I've ever seen my wife move so fast! She was down there in a flash and managed to grab the camera on the way. Shsssh...

From good to bad...
It was a stressful day for my wife in the beginning, but worked out great in the end. Congratulations to my wife! She got a new job and now makes triple what she did before! Awesomeness!

Too good to be true...

CiCi's sounds too good to be true, but if it is, I know where I'm going to be eating every Friday night.

Cat book revealed...

Below shows the process for one of the pages I did for the cat book.
Did light pencils first.

Started Inking.

When I water colored I layed them all out and went from one to the other. I would finish all the Emma's, then Chin's and any other similarities to try and keep them consistent. After that I went into each individual one.

Chin's adoption...

Below are the cat book pages watercolored. I'm glad it's finally done. The watercoloring took forever and I think I bite off a bit more than I could chew. It was a learning process and my watercolors will look better next time. All in all I'm happy with how it turned out.

Year One...

I had said most of my blogs this week would be about the "Cat Book" I was working on for my Comic Book Class. I lied. Rather I underestimated my laziness. Scanning ten pages takes time. So, finally the pages have been inked and can be seen below. I'll go through and water color them today and tomorrow. Just wanted to scan them first in case I royally mess up the watercoloring.

Comic Book Class...
Posts for the next week or two are going to be all about this cat comic book I'll be doing for my final project for my Comic Book Class. It's not a traditional comic book like Superman or anything, but it will tell a story in pictures. The story of the adoption of our cat "Chins."
Below is a mock up of what the book might look like. I'm not planning on using all these pages, but these are possibilities. It'll probably be whittled down to about 10 pages.
